Behind The Books
ADLER – And The Carter Organisation
-is, fortunately, fiction (in many respects), but there is also a great deal of reality woven into the story. Among other things, the historical names, documents and locations are real. As the examples below show, there really is evidence to support the theory, that ‘we’ have been here before – A conclusion Irene ‘Adler’ Stevenson also reaches, in the midst of their desperate struggle for survival. Also, their subtle debate at the taco table, concerning, amongst other things, digital personal surveillance – the extent of which many of us do not grasp. And then there’s the ever more advanced AI (artificial intelligence)- and/or artificial self-awareness… Perhaps a kind of consciousness and intelligence that we humans simply do not have the capacity to understand… or control.

The Piri Reis maps – Here is an excerpt from one of the world maps/nautical charts. A collection of maps discovered by the Ottoman admiral, Piri Reis, in Turkey in the year 1513. The maps are a reproduction of a much older collection of maps, one of which, amongst other things, shows the coastline of the mainland beneath the ice at the South Pole – A coastline that has been hidden by kilometres of ice for the last 15,000 years, and whose accuracy has only been confirmed within the last 50 years, using satellite and modern geological equipment.
A page from the Voynich Manuscript, carbon-dated to between 1404 and 1438. It was probably created in Italy, and one hypothesis is that the language is the ‘language of nature’. No one knows who created the document, and again, it is possible that it is a copy of an even older work. The text has never been deciphered.

‘Piercing the veil’, a woodcut by an unknown artist, first documented in Camille Flammaion’s book “L’atmosphère” from 1888. An image that supports the claim, found in several works dating from before our era, that there is more than one reality – that human reality is an illusion.
Fiction is also closer to reality than we are led to believe in everyday life. The A.I. mentioned in the book, which taught itself to play chess, is also a reality. Starting from knowing nothing about the hierarchy of the pieces or their possible moves, it taught itself the rules of the game by playing against a standard chess computer. At first, it lost every time, but over time it devised new and better moves. Eventually, it came up with moves and strategies that had never been seen in the 1,500 years the game has existed – and beat the three greatest chess masters… all at once.
ADLER, The Nine
-is, like the ‘Adler and Carter Organisation’, fortunately fictional (in many respects), but there is also a great deal of reality woven into the story. Among other things, the historical names, documents and locations are real. Likewise, there is a great deal to suggest that we, Homo sapiens, are in fact a ‘modified’ race.

A photograph of a section of the 4,000-year-old underground city of Derinkuyu in Turkey. It is approximately 80 metres deep and could accommodate up to 20,000 people, as well as the necessary food stores and livestock to ensure survival for several years.

HMS Collingwood – a St Vincent-class dreadnought. She was the British flagship during the First World War. The British Prince Albert (later King George VI) served on the Collingwood for several years and took part, amongst other engagements, in the ‘Battle of Jutland’ in 1916.
ENKI, son of ANU, depicted here on a Sumerian stone relief. ENKI was the Sumerian Anunnaki god of water. ‘Anunnaki’, translated directly from Sumerian, means ‘Those who came from heaven’. The Sumerian civilisation, which dates back over 7,000 years, was situated in what is now the southernmost part of Iraq and Kuwait.
Below, ENKI is depicted on a cylinder seal from the Akkadian Empire, which was 3,000 years younger. Dated to around 2,300 BC.
